The 2008 Dinastia Vivanco Crianza made quite the impression on Wine Spectator’s Spanish wine reviewer Thomas Matthews. In the October 31, 2011 issue it was rated 90 points and deemed a “Spectator Selection: Smart Buy” with its modest suggested retail price of $18. Now it has secured a spot at #59 on the magazine’s annual coveted “Top 100” list for 2011. Wholesalers, retailers, and consumers alike reference this list to make their purchases throughout the following year and earning a spot on said list is no easy feat! Wine Spectator reports that over the course of the year, reviewers tasted more than 16,000 wines, about a third of which were rated 90+. As if that weren’t enough, the 2008 Crianza also made the list of “100 Outstanding Values.” This triple threat was described by Matthews as a, “velvety and voluptuous, generous red [that] delivers plum, blackberry, chocolate and toast flavors, with broad, soft tannins and just enough acidity to stay lively. The finish is graceful.” As one of a mere seven Spanish wines to make the cut, Opici Wines is very proud to represent the family-owned and operated Rioja producer – Dinastia Vivanco. Congratulations Vivanco family! Looking forward to many great vintages ahead…
A Thriving Dynasty
