Dobbes Family Winery

Located between Oregon’s Cascade Mountains and the Coast Range, lies the celebrated wine region of Willamette Valley, recognized as one of the world’s premier cool-climate wine producing areas.

It is here that Joe Dobbes launched Dobbes Family Estate in 2002. Over 20 years later, this small-production, boutique winery remains focused on hand-crafted, high-quality wines. Led by Pinot Noir, the winery is also a leader in Grenache Blanc.

Winemaker Derek Einberger crafts traditionally made Burgundian-inspired Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Grenache Blanc from AVAs within Oregon’s Willamette and Rogue Valleys, namely the Dundee Hills, Chehalem Mountains, Eola-Amity and McMinnville appellations. Sourcing is from both estate vineyards and long-term grower partnerships.

“At Dobbes we say that we are rooted in tradition yet unbound by convention. I do believe in this mantra, and I like to think I embody it. My approach to winemaking has always been a raw and unfettered one. In my experience, wine made simply– some would say traditionally– always produces the best and most complex wines. Wines with energy and soul. Aside from vineyard provenance, process is often what separates the good wines from the great. A focus on fermenting with native yeast, and a holistic and natural style of winemaking. Making wine in this way allows the wine to express itself over the winemaking.”
