The Giesen family relocated to New Zealand’s South Island from Germany in 1981 charmed by the natural beauty, climate and winegrowing possibilities. Today, over 40 years later, Giesen is one of New Zealand’s top 10 wineries and their estate is comprised of 700 acres and 13 unique vineyards spanning the breadth and diversity of Marlborough. The three entrepreneurial brothers, Theo, Alex and Marcel, continue to innovate with their signature variety, Sauvignon Blanc and are the first to introduce a no-alcohol Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to the world.
New Zealand’s world-renowned Marlborough region is best known for its distinct Sauvignon Blanc. Located at the northeastern tip of the beautiful South Island, its bright sunshine, low rainfall, refreshingly cool climate and diverse soils make it ideal for vibrant aromatic and distinct wines. The Wairau, Awatere and Southern Valleys are the preeminent subregions of Marlborough.
Masters of Sauvignon Blanc: The Giesen brothers are passionate about exploring all angles of Sauvignon Blanc – a truly prolific endeavor. From the ever popular, fresh and vibrant stainless steel Estate Sauvignon Blanc, to explorations with French barriques, German fuders and granite tanks; from single vineyard studies to select vineyard blends; from 0% alcohol Sauvignon Blanc, low-alcohol Sauvignon Blanc and organic offerings to a heady late harvest botrytis, the Giesens have truly left no Sauvignon Blanc stone unturned.
