Chianti Riserva DOCG
Sangiovese and Canaiolo grown in the Chianti DOCG area are blended to produce an aged expression of this classic Tuscan wine. Campbello Chianti Riserva is full in body with notes of violets and strawberries. It is dry with bright fruit, pleasant acidity, and rounded tannins. Aged for a number of months in Slavonian oak following fermentation. Ready to drink upon release, this Riserva will continue to improve over the next few years.

Smells like a little Cabernet Sauvignon enhancing the Sangiovese in this black currant– and cherry-flavored red. Cedar, thyme, iron and sanguine notes round out the palate as this cruises to a lingering aftertaste. Shows excellent structure and balance.

Black cherries, game, smoke, tobacco, licorice and leather are some of the many notes that emerge… Dark and brooding in its expression of Sangiovese, the Riserva is all about power, density and structure… as the wine ages the more animal dimensions of Sangiovese will take on greater prominence, but there is little question the 2010 is a wine of real character.
