Tempranillo
On the nose, this wine expresses notes of dark fruits such as blackberries. Medium-bodied in style, it is well-structured on the palate with soft, rounded tannins. Flavors of sweet berries such as strawberry and cherry abound. Vinified in stainless steel, the Albet i Noya Tempranillo is a pure expression of one of Spain’s most popular varietals. This wine will evolve nicely over 2-3 years.

Deep ruby. Ripe cherry and cassis aromas show a vaguely roasted character and a hint of mocha. Fleshy and broad, with good heft to its dark fruit flavors. Finishes smooth and slightly sweet, with good cling and lingering warmth.

The 2010 Te Tempranillo is sourced from 34-year-old vines at 380 metres from the Ordal Mountains and sees no oak aging. If has a lifted, ripe nose of meat-tinged red berries mixed with soy and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with coarse tannins but plenty of chunky red-berried fruit that is simple and clean. You would not argue about the price being asked. Drink now.

Bright ruby. Redcurrant and cherry scents are complemented by dried rose and herbs. Light-bodied and silky, with a slightly tart edge to its tangy red fruit flavors. The brisk finish offers good clarity and cut. I’d have liked some more heft but this drinks easily.
